Scene inside the forest

Temperature now at 26.8 degree in the late afternoon and I wonder what happened inside the darkest corner of my aquascape. I maneuvered my camera for a quick snap-shot, under the heavily covered driftwood, and found them "sleeping" at this hour.

Many shrimplets

My community tank has finally produced different kind of shrimplets, including the shrimp hybrid that has unattractive dark grey color? The pictures show the slightly grown up lot.

Mosura Excel

I went to clementi today to get new shrimp foods since my current stock is running low. I am going to try this popular brand and it doesn't come cheap. Here is a picture of slab algae with many ingredients inside under the new brand. It is pretty hard to break them into smaller pieces and I need to exert full strength to achieve it.

Filter upgraded - Eden 501

My current hanging filter has not been satisfactory because the water flowed out frequently and created small "flood" if the internal sponge is not renewed on time. It can be quite frustrating when I reached home with a wet floor. This time, I invested a small external filter (Eden 501). After much research from the internet and thru aquatic forumners' recommendations, this petite machine is the best choice for my 1 foot nano cube because it doesn't take up space and operate silently too. The suction is good and the flowrate comfortable for my shrimps. No casualty after I put this new filter into immediate operations. I have customised by shortening the suction and rain bars with a saw that make them submerged perfectly inside the small tank. Finally I can sleep peacefully without worrying about flood and wet feet in the middle of the night. Happy!!

My flora has aged...

I have been taking a break in writing this blog because I have stopped buying shrimps due to more production of shrimplets as my tank aged. Here are pictures of my bamboo charcoal fully "consumed" by spikey moss within a span of 4 months and the background Java moss has outgrown many of the plants that it started to consume a third of my tank space. The nana plants are not losing out too and has conquered my driftwood with its extensive and massive roots. It may appear messy but I simply love such natural occurrance due to sudden lazy maintenance.
